- Persona: Melbriga i Granby is an 10th century lady whose mother was of Scottish heritage and her father of Scandinavian heritage. As the lands of the Hebrides were difficult for her father to live on, they moved to Norway which was undergoing very turbulous times with the battle of religion between the Christians and the Pagan people. Leifr, her father, worked hard to bring a peace between the two sides requesting coexistance and acceptance. Melbriga was raised knowing well of her Pagan roots but also aware of the need to conform for safety's sake especially after the rise of Olaf I to the throne. She was raised in the studies of midwifery and all good housewifery tasks, although never married and lived her life always in her parents home which she inherited at her parent's passing.
Melbriga's other interests in the SCA include (but certainly aren't limited to): heraldry, calligraphy and illumination, costuming, music (both vocal and instrumental), cooking, knitting, nalbinding, dancing, research, and many other goodly habits of woman's work. Melbriga is frequently known to play the part of her (many great) grandniece in 16th century working woman's attire (as she has found it second in comfort to her native aprons and tunics). Melbriga has an award of arms and is a member of the Order of the Goutte de Sang from the Kingdom of An Tir for service to the kingdom. It carries with it a grant of arms.

- Persona: I am the product of a treaty marriage between an Austrasian and Slavic Merchant families that operated on the border at the turn of the 8th century. My father was from the Frankish family who thought the profits that could be had by merging the companies would definitely be worth the cost of the wedding and festivities accompanying it. So the wedding happened, the companies merged and was productive for 16 years. However my mother's brother was killed when I had just turned 15. The Slav's immediately blamed my father's family of getting jealous of my uncle's rising popularity with customers and his rising power in the business. The Slav's kidnapped my father's sister to try to get the Austrasians to admit to the murder, but instead my father lead a party of soldiers to rescue her against my mother's and my pleading. He is killed in the attempt. This causes a war between my mother's Slavic family and my father's Austrasian family shortly afterward. The bloody battles between the families and their lack of cohesion destroyed the company's prestige and drained the business's coffers. I escaped right before the battles began in earnest, hiding my mother at a monastery. Using my excellent education in both books and combat thanks to the early prosperity of the family business I became an armorer's apprentice in the city of Reims so I could hide my face and rank in the darkness of the smithy. The master armorer joined General Charles's, later called Charles Martel, army when he was headed to Poitiers to stop the Muslim moors. The master armorer wanted one of the three apprentices in the shop to go with him to repair the soldier's armor. I volunteered being that I had no family in the area whereas the other two were from local families. While I was under my master in the General Charles's army I discovered I could be a good scout because of my education in keeping inventory and stocking up resources for my families trading company so I was a scout and armorer, but my skill as a scout gave me the rank captain in the scout division of the army. I was one of the scout captains that lead their squads of scouts into the Moors' camp during the Battle of Tours to start looting. A dispute arose when some of the soldiers under General Charles accused my master of being faulty in his repairs. I boldly defended him causing the soldiers to call me Baldmund , because it means bold defender, and it stuck. I then continued in Charles Martel's service until he went to subdue the Duchy of Aquitaine. I broke from Charles' army in the summer of 733 being that my contract was up and headed North, North West freelancing as a smith and mercenary. In my roaming I ran across two ladies of rank an elderly lord and five men-at-arms that were being attacked by a force twenty strong so with my adrenaline pumping I charged into the battle on a Moorish horse, that I had gotten as loot, with my favored smithy hammer turned war hammer held high and my shield braced. With surprise on my side I killed three right quick then felled another before the group really new they were being attacked, then it got difficult as I had to fight tooth and toenail using every trick I had learned while being a scout. I slew three more and maimed two more the elderly lord's men-at-arms had done some good work at dispatching ten, so the unharmed survivor fled, but it wasn't all victory as two of the men-at-arms had fallen and two more were injured. The elderly lord had fallen protecting the ladies and the elder of the two ladies died protecting the younger. After I had gotten the survivors the dead and the two wounded attackers back to the local Marquis castle I found out that the younger lady was the Marquis' daughter and the lady that fell was his wife. The two prisoners that I had taken revealed that the attack was by command of a neighboring Marquis' thane. The attacking thane wanted the land of the elderly lord who fell in the recent battle. The fallen lord was a thane of the Marquis that I was speaking with so it brought the issue very close to home let alone the involvement of the death of the defending marquis' wife. The land was called Stone Glade because of a stone quarry near the castle. However the castle had fallen under disrepair under this thane. The Marquis told me in private that if I could retake Stone Glade, garrison it, and take care of it, I could have it for my own as one of his thanes. I agreed. So I called on some of my scouts that I had had in my squad under General Charles, and we devised a way to retake the castle. We were successful so I gained the title thane. I also gained permission to court the marquis' daughter so we've been doing so for about two and a fourth years

- Persona: a late period widowed Italian woman of independent means, whom is interested in antique or out of fashion clothing. This developed at an early age due to being exposed to many different styles of the different lands she saw while traveling with my parents as a child. And my mother had an extensive collection of items passed down from Great-grandmother and Grandmother. Since my parents were both well educated and free spirited, I was allowed to develope my own ideas about some less than lady like things. My father rather liked to speak Latin and was intrigued with most things Roman and Latin manuscripts. My mother was a nobleman's daughter with a mind of her own. I found that I liked to sew, of course and make cordials. I learned how to illuminate scrolls and am still perfecting my calligraphy. But also, I was allowed to learn to defend myself with a crossbow (See below) and get my own set of armor custom made. I also enjoy camping, cooking with the camp stove and oven.

- Persona: I was born in the Year of our Lord, 1191 in Bretagne (Britannia), in eastern France to a merchant and a seamstress of modest means. Upon reaching manhood, I followed a calling to the service of the Lord our Savior and entered the monastic order of Hospitaliers. In the years of my membership with my holy brothers, I learned the fighting arts so that I could join the faithful in driving the Saracens out of the holy land, and to protect the holy pilgrims making the journey to and from Jerusalem. Upon my return to France following the fifth crusade, I was accused of cuckolding the Baron of Anjou (a grave misunderstanding, I assure you). Unfortunately, my order was pressured by the presiding diocese to disavow me due to these false claims. I was summarily defrocked. For years I wandered the countryside, healing the sick and protecting the weak. It was in a tavern in Pembroke that I first met, and quickly came to admire, members of the Household of Gryphon's Keep. After numerous occasions of camaraderie (and sampling of the local brewed spirits) that I was asked to become a member of this brotherhood of honour. I heartily accepted and have served faithfully in the Household of Gryphon's keep since.

- Persona: Lord Thomas Alfred is the son of a land owner born 1329 in 14th century England at Castle Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, South Wales. I went off to war at a young age. Fighting my first major battle at Crecy 1346 at the age of 17 under the banner of King Edward the III of England with the privilege of fighting under the division led by Edward of Woodstock (the Black Prince). After the battle, the Siege of Calais began and lasted from 4 September 1346 - 3 August 1347, which ended with Calais' surrender and subsequent English control. Returning to England after the siege I found a country side devastated with plague and bitter cold. I then wandered the known world for nearly 8 years. During my travels I took part in battles I felt were just (a mercenary with honor so to speak) fighting in minor skirmishes in Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the boarders of the Ottoman Empire. By 1355 I found myself back in England and once again under the banner of Edward the Black Prince. In 1356 (aged 27) I fought at the Battle of Poitiers resulting in a great victory for the English and the capture of the French King, John II. After many years of travel and war the green fields of England/Wales called me home where I started my work; gathered like-minded warriors and soldiers to a common banner and created the Household of Gryphon's Keep.

- Persona: Kail is a proud Norseman who takes his profession very seriously (going a Viking). Not much is known about Kail or where he came from (possibly Denmark). It is worth noting that his sir name "Vidarson" means the son of Vidar. "In Norse myth, Vidar is the son of Odin and the giantess Grid (Gridr). He is the god of silence and revenge, the second strongest of the gods. At the destruction of the world, Odin will be killed by the wolf Fenrir, and Vidar will avenge his father by killing the wolf with his bare hands. He will press one foot on Fenrir's bottom jaw, and will take hold of his other jaw and tear the wolf apart." Kail does not openly claim to be descended from the Norse god, but does not deny it either. At 6'4" tall and a sword swing that splinters shields....who knows, it could be true.

- Persona: My name is Cristofo d'Argento and I was born in the beautiful city of Venice in the heart of the Venetian Empire in 1398. My family is one of influence being merchants and crafters of fine silver. During my childhood and young years we were often honored guests of the Doge Tommaso Mocenigo who reigned in Venice from 1413 to 1423. This eventually led to a delicate situation involving the Doge's niece. My father had me shipped off to the Venetian colony on Crete to stay with my uncle Fernando d'Argento to forestall any problems within Venice. It was with my uncle Fernando that I learned the art of war.
Venice invaded the Patriarchate of Aquileia, and subjected Tra, Split, Durazzo and other Dalmatia cities in the process. The difficulties with Hungary eventually won the consolidation of his Adriatic dominions for the Republic of Venice. It was during the latter part of 1420 that I got sent to Nafplion in Greece to use its castle as a staging ground for our campaigns into Dalmatia. After fighting for many years by the side of my brothers from Venice I felt it was time for me to return to the city of my birth.
I found to my delight that the subject of my dalliance in my youth had for many years longed for my return. We eventually wed and now operate a small vineyard not far from the city. Occasionally I offer my sword in service for the numerous petty city state wars that plague our country so often.

- Persona: Although his given name is Laurencius Legnano, everyone calls him Larian because of where he grew up (The Larian Triange on the Southwest shore of Lake Como). He also gathered himself an additional nickname of LeQuella (Meaning the searcher) as a joke amongst his household mates due to his constant search for wine and adventure. Larian grew up as a noble on the shores of the beautiful Lake Como region in Northern Italy. His lands were prized for wine growing and for the defensible position they held over the commerce of the lake and easy access to Milan, Como, and Switzerland. While the lands and the lords of the area would often change fealty to best suit their needs, the peoples of Lake Como stuck to their own ways and very rarely involved themselves beyond sending a few token troops to whatever battles concerned the regional powers. After a while, it just became fashionable to hire the soldiers from the region around Lake Como as mercenaries more than trying to recruit them as conscripts. It is into this frame of mind that Larian has thrown himself wholeheartedly into. Whatever battles offer him the most gold, ale, and opportunity for women, he goes headstrong into those battles. While serving only himself, he has fought in many battles all over the known world. He met Thomas Alfred of Pembroke while hiring himself out as a mercenary in Spain. With the wealth they accumulated in their various battles, and that which he has taken from whatever master was willing to pay, Larian has decided to follow the Household of Gryphon's Keep, just to make sure they don't get too stuffy like those cold Brits are known to do. The house coffers hopefully run deep to keep Larian in his accustomed flamboyant lifestyle.

- Persona: I, Roland De Wahul, was born in Castle Odell, Bedfordshire, East Anglia in the year of our Lord 1313. I am a descendant of the great Doomsday Baron who was entitled the lands of Bedfordshire by William the Conqueror for his service during the conquest of 1066. I am one of the senior line feudal lords known as "Lords Wahul". I have been in many campaigns to glorify England. I have spilt much blood and now remain infamous amongst my adversaries who have dubbed me "the Butcher". In 1356, I fought fiercely under Edward the Black Prince against the French in the battle of Poitiers where I lost count of those I slew in the bloodbath. Through my rewards over the years, I have managed to build my own manor; however, my thirst for battle is not yet quenched. - Persona: Born in 1328 to a family with a minor estate outside the coastal town of Brighthelmston. Alexander's father was very fond of horses and had trained many of the finest mounts in the Kingdom. It is no wonder that Alexander learned to ride about the same time he learned to walk. When Alexander was 14, he was sent to Castle Risinge where he received martial training from the weapons master, Larry of Parrish. It was here that he met his lifelong friend, Christoforus Fortescu.

At the age of 18 Alexander and Christoforus had their first taste of war serving under Edward the Black Prince at the Battle of Crecy. They liked it! After that time, Alexander and Christoforus served in many free companies and suitably harranged the Frogs. . . er, I mean the French until Edward returned ten years later for the Battle of Poitiers.

After this grand victory, Alexander and Christoforus parted ways for a while to meet up again a couple of years later in Bordeaux. It is here that the two play at tournaments and try to stay out of trouble. It is not easy being English in France.

- Persona: Lord Brennan is a Celt (Ireland) who was inspired to leave his beloved homeland and join the Crusades as well as the Teutonic Order. During his travels he was introduced to Duke Mittion von Weald. The Duke seeing Brennan's potential took him as a Squire and over the years has been teaching him the ways of combat, chivalry, and the necessary skills and attitude required to obtain Knighthood. Recently Lord Brennan created House Swordborn and has begun calling Men-at-Arms to his banner (a white sword on a field of black). From the early days during the founding of Gryphon's Keep he has selflessly provided guidance and insight to the Household. A friendship and brotherhood has developed between Gryphon's Keep and House Swordborn creating a powerful force within the Kingdom.
