Located in the Pan Handle of Florida
(Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Destin, Mary Esther, and surrounding area).
About the Shire Phoenix Glade is the Fort Walton Beach Chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA), an international organization dedicated to recreating the historical life and combat of pre-17th-century Europe. Our Shire is just a small part of the world wide, non-profit organization known as the SCA. We are located within the Kingdom of Meridies (see below for Kingdom details).
The SCA is a group designed for individual participation and is not a spectator activity. It allows members to be as active or inactive as they wish, but unlike Renaissance Fairs, you take part in the activities. We learn about the middle ages by attempting to re-create the best aspects of the era, and without the fleas and plagues, and with indoor plumbing.
And on that note: Come Join us for our event Daggers and Hemlock IV in September!!!!!!
Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Our "royalty" hold courts at which they recognize and honor members for their contributions to the group. If you would like to see pictures and videos of Some of the events please go to our Historian's Bookshelf and the media is organized based on how recent it is, i/e Recent History is media from events that happened in the last year whereas Archive refers to media from events that are from earlier times.
If you would like more information about the SCA you can go to www.sca.org or you can go to our Newcomer's Page.
The Shire of Phoenix Glade welcomes all newcomers, and we encourage interested gentles to check us out. All meetings are open to the public, and we like seeing new faces. If you are new to the SCA, and would like more information on the Society or our Shire, please feel free to contact our Chatelaine (New comer welcoming person)

About the Kingdom - The SCA divides the world into Kingdoms; there are nineteen kingdoms at this time. Our kingdom (Meridies) encompasses most of the Southeastern United States: the Florida panhandle, Georgia, Alabama, Middle and East Tennessee and Kentucky, and part of southwestern Virginia. The name of our kingdom is derived from Latin and means "The Southlands".
